During Richard Porter's latest visit to Socotra in February and March 2011, he and Ahmed Saeed Suleiman, added three new bird species to the archipelago list

all vagrants from Asia: Watercock Gallicrex cinerea, Black-throated Thrush Turdus
atrogularis and Steppe Grey Shrike Lanius pallidirostris. They were all discovered
on the same day - 2 March. This brings the number of species recorded on Socotra to
220.
